Stephen A. Hill received his Bachelor of Science in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969 where he was a member of Sigma Gamma Tau. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1974, where he was an Editor for the Case Western Reserve Law Review. Mr. Hill became a member of the Ohio Bar in 1974. He is registered to practice before United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Hill is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association. Mr. Hill has served as director and secretary of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association and Chairman of the Intellectual Property Law Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association.
Mr. Hill has done extensive work in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications (domestic and foreign) in the fields of mechanical and electronic inventions, particularly relating to mechanical structures, fluid flow, processing systems, instrumentation and controls, and computer hardware and software. He has also done extensive work on copyright protection of technology, especially computer technology and developments related to the Internet. Mr. Hill has a background in litigation and litigation support, including alternative dispute resolution, and including work testifying as an expert witness on patent law and patent prosecution. In addition to his patent and copyright work, Mr. Hill maintains an active trademark practice and has handled numerous trademark inter partes proceedings.
